MYCA report for July 2017
A report about finances at our June 9 MYCA meeting revealed how popular shopping at the Ship's Store can be. Opening Day set a record for the Store's one day sales. Our wonderful volunteers were kept busy for hours while helping customers decide which great items they wanted to buy...the excellent quality and great variety of items offered are a reflection of the hard work and creativity of Janice Romano, the Ship's Store Manager. Extra help from our members really made a difference. A very big Thank You to Janice Romano, Bobbie O'Blenis, Ann Poltorack, Helen Brown, Marianne Frasco, Lorraine Austin, Janice Senakerib, Carol Tyler. Susan Koster & Susan Saffar for working tirelessly to make this a success. This was our best turn out ever! Profits from the Store support the club and its' members. A catalog is located in the Snack Shack for you to browse through for items with or without MYC logo. You may also contact Janice Romano or Lori McCaughey Schweiker for more information and/or to place an order.
Our MYCA Raffle this year is being chaired by Janice Senakarib and Lori Schweiker. Several Themed Baskets with terrific contents, plus a CHASE gift certificate in each will be offered....Each basket will have an assortment of items that is sure to please the winner. Keep an eye on your mail box, as we will be sending out Raffle tickets to every member's home to purchase for themselves or sell to friends. This annual Raffle is our best fund raiser and allows the MYCA to help support the Club and its members in different and meaningful ways.
We are very pleased to announce that the July 14th meeting will feature an abridged Training on Life Saving Techniques by 2nd year MYC Associate Arman Fardanesh. He will guide us through the use of a Defibrillator (MYC has one in the Club House and one in the Snack Shack for cardiac emergencies) plus cover CPR if time permits. Our members are looking forward to enhancing their skills and feel fortunate to have a Professional providing advice and guidance. Let us know if you want to participate. Arman's training will begin promptly at 8:30 p.m. AN ICE CREAM SOCIAL WILL BE THE FINISHING TOUCH, a nice way to end a July meeting. Drop-ins are welcome!...but let us know so that we have enough ice cream to go around.
We need help sourcing photos for an ongoing project pertaining to the History of MYC, its' Events and the Ladies Who Contributed. If possible, we would like to gather photos dating back to 1948 when the Auxillary was formed. If you don't have access to photos, perhaps you can provide us with contact information for family members or friends who might have them, especially images from the earlier decades. We can digitize the photos and return originals to their owners.
The MYCA has its' meetings mapped out through October: A Night at the Theater (August), Photo Taking Techniques (September), and finally, a Paint Your Own Nautical Canvas/Wine Cheese party for our October-end-of-season meeting. If you want to have an enjoyable outing, join us on the 2nd Friday of the month, in the Snack Shack from 8 - 10 pm. . And, if you're interested in helping us source photos for the ongoing project pertaining to the History of MYC, its' Events and the Ladies Who Contributed, please contact Lori Schweiker at 201-755-5278 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
Wishing you fair winds, clear skies, and care-free navigating.
